Basketball Recap: Faith Jernigan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Glynn Academy over Evans

Glynn Academy was the 52-27 winner over Evans when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Glynn Academy Terrors took a 60-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Evans Knights on Friday. The Terrors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Glynn Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Faith Jernigan, who posted 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiyah Spaulding, who put up 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Evans found their leader in sophomore Chabria Tate, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. The contest was Tate's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Kimariya Hinton was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.

Glynn Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 16-12. As for Evans, their win bumped their record up to 24-3.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Glynn Academy will challenge Alexander at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Alexander will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Glynn Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Evans, they will face off against New Manchester at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New Manchester is on a ten-game streak of home wins, Evans a nine-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
