Basketball Recap: New Richmond Comes Up Short

New Richmond was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 68-61 to the Goshen Warriors. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-59 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why New Richmond lost, don't look at Anthony Wolf. Despite the final result, he went 9 for 11 en route to 26 points. With that strong performance, Wolf is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Preston Dykes was another key player, going 5 of 6 on his way to 10 points and seven assists.

Even though they lost, New Richmond was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Goshen's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Graham Roark, who went 8 for 14 en route to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bray Settelmayer, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 assists.

New Richmond's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Goshen, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5.

New Richmond didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-37 loss against Bethel-Tate on the 25th. As for Goshen, they will take on Archbishop Alter at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Goshen is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.2 points per game this season.
