Baseball Recap: Zephyrhills Comes Up Short

If Zephyrhills was riding high fresh off their 19-4 takedown of Tenoroc last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs lost 14-0 to the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes on Friday. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Hurricanes from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Zephyrhills has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Palm Harbor University, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.

Zephyrhills will square off against Cypress Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Coyotes' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Palm Harbor University, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-2 win against Olympia on the 5th.
