Basketball Recap: Centura Centurions vs. Boone Central Cardinals

After flying high against Arcadia/Loup City last Saturday, Centura came back down to earth. The Centura Centurions fell just short of the Boone Central Cardinals by a score of 40-38 on Tuesday. The Centurions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Centura saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kennedy Davis dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten blocks. Boone Central found their leader in sophomore Addy Hedlund, who went 6-for-11 en route to 17 points and eight rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Hedlund has scored at least a third of Boone Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ciara Baker, who earned six points and four steals.

Centura's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Boone Central, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.

Centura didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-26 victory against Arcadia/Loup City on the 14th. As for Boone Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 40-26 defeat against Northwest on the 13th.
