Baseball Recap: L'Anse Creuse Gets the Win

The matchup between L'Anse Creuse and Port Huron Northern on Thursday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Lancers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Huskies, sneaking past 11-10. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Remington Walters was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for L'Anse Creuse: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Logan Kurtz, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

L'Anse Creuse's record is now 5-16. As for Port Huron Northern, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Looking ahead, L'Anse Creuse will face off against Imlay City at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.64 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
