Volleyball Recap: Newberry Comes Up Short

Newberry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Swansea Tigers. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Newberry started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 18-25, 25-21, 25-15, 15-13.

Newberry's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Swansea, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-8 record.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Newberry will face off against rival Silver Bluff at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Swansea is set to take on their familiar foe Keenan at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
