Baseball Game Preview: Hart Hawks vs. Camarillo Scorpions

The Hart Hawks will challenge the Camarillo Scorpions at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Last Wednesday, Hart came up short against Agoura and fell 10-6. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Luke McCarty and Anthony Cavarretta did some serious damage despite the final result: McCarty scored a run while going 3-for-3, while Cavarretta scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Daly, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Camarillo). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Oak Park a 6-0 shutout on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Scorpions in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won nine in a row.

The result came thanks to Braden Huber's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Camarillo saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Cavender, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Cavender also got a hit, marking his first of the season. Another was Austin Phenix, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Hart now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Camarillo, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-7.

Hart skirted past Camarillo 2-1 when the teams last played back in February. Does Hart have another victory up their sleeve, or will Camarillo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
