Softball Preview: Pacifica Tritons vs. Nordhoff Rangers
Pacifica is 3-0 against Nordhoff since March of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Pacifica Tritons will head out on the road to square off against the Nordhoff Rangers at 3:30 p.m. Pacifica is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Last Monday, Pacifica got the win against Foothill Tech by a conclusive 14-4. The victory was just what Pacifica needed coming off of a 15-3 defeat in their prior game.
The team relied heavily on Denise Gutierrez, who went 3-for-3 with a home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Colvin, who went 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs.
Meanwhile, Nordhoff came up short against Hueneme last Tuesday and fell 12-7.
Nordhoff saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madi Reyes, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Pacifica's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12. As for Nordhoff, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-8.
