Hammond Bishop Noll hasn't had much luck against Illiana Christian recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Hammond Bishop Noll is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Griffith.
Molly Whelan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Hammond Bishop Noll saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelynn (Maddie) Queen, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Illiana Christian hadn't done well against Harrison recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Vikings narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Raiders 13-11.
Lydia VanderWoude was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Daliege, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Illiana Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Hammond Bishop Noll now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Illiana Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hammond Bishop Noll hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355. However, it's not like Illiana Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .378. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hammond Bishop Noll suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Illiana Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
