Basketball Recap: Leroy-Ostrander Falls Despite Big Games from Mabel Johnson and Miranda Nagel

LeRoy-Ostrander was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 44-35 to the Wabasha-Kellogg Falcons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 47-44 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, LeRoy-Ostrander had strong showings from Miranda Nagel, who posted seven points along with 14 boards and three blocks, and Mabel Johnson, who earned ten points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Johnson has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Wabasha-Kellogg was led to victory by Addisyn Quade and Brielle Adams. Quade scored 17 points in addition to seven boards and three steals, while Adams dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Quade a new career-high in boards. Kylee Metcalf was another key player, putting up three points along with seven assists and seven steals.

LeRoy-Ostrander's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Wabasha-Kellogg, they moved to 3-11 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

LeRoy-Ostrander wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 78-36 defeat against Houston on the 14th. Wabasha-Kellogg has also already played their next contest, a 56-26 loss against Cotter on the 16th.
