Baseball Game Preview: Leon Cougars vs. Lovelady Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Leon Cougars challenge Lovelady Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Things were looking good for Leon after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 8-3 to Centerville. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost five in a row.

Leon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Truss Waldrip, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Lovelady got the win against Grapeland on Tuesday by a conclusive 8-1. Considering the Lions have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Brady McCullough, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Lane Wilson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Lovelady's victory bumped their record up to 11-8-1. As for Leon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
