Baseball Recap: Camelback Spartans vs. Maryvale Panthers

Camelback was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 21st straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Maryvale Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 28-7 last Tuesday.

Cesar Fernandez and Sergio Bacame stepped up to the plate in a big way. Fernandez went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Bacame scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Marcus Vera, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Camelback's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Maryvale, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Camelback will face off against Boulder Creek at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans are facing the Jaguars at the right time seeing as the Jaguars are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Maryvale, they will challenge Tempe at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
