Basketball Game Preview: Eau Claire Shamrocks vs. Clinton Red Devils

The Eau Claire Shamrocks will head out to challenge the Clinton Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Eau Claire is headed into Tuesday's matchup hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-36 heartbreaker at the hands of Mid-Carolina. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Shamrocks came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Rebels are ranked 249th).

Meanwhile, everything went Clinton's way against Chester on Friday as Clinton made off with a 72-50 win. The Red Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 22 points or more this season.

Clinton had a senior duo take command as Devin Swindler went 10 of 17 on his way to 24 points and eight rebounds and Tushawan Richardson went 10 for 13 en route to 20 points and five steals. The match was Richardson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyterian Smith, who posted two points and seven assists.

Clinton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Eau Claire, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
