Football Recap: Colleton Prep Academy Beats Calhoun Academy for Their Fourth Straight Win

Colleton Prep Academy extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 4-1. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 34-28 W against the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers. For the War Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 55-28 victory the Cavaliers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Cale Owens produced another solid performance rushing for 92 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also throwing for 265 yards and three TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024. 87 of Owens' passing yards were hauled in by Thomas Corbett.

Having lost for the first time this season, Calhoun Academy fell to 3-1. The loss was their first of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Calhoun Academy lost, don't look at Colt Layton. Despite the final result, he rushed for 166 yards and two scores while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Layton is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 102 every time he's taken the field this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colleton Prep Academy will welcome Clarendon Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
