Football Recap: Las Animas Piles Up the Points Against Rocky Ford

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against McClave, Las Animas was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Rocky Ford Meloneers 54-8. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 34 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Orion Martinez, who rushed for 215 yards and one TD on only 11 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 59 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Jerome Ethridge, who picked up 46 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Las Animas' victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.2 points over those games. As for Rocky Ford, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
