Football Preview: Bethune-Bowman Mohawks vs. Cross Trojans
The Bethune-Bowman Mohawks will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Cross Trojans at 7:30 p.m.
Bethune-Bowman is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Scott's Branch on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Bethune-Bowman took a blow against Scott's Branch, falling 68-6.
Meanwhile, Cross entered their tilt with Scott's Branch last Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Eagles 54-12 on the road. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Karmello Jones was his usual excellent self, rushing for 289 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 11.6 yards per carry. His longest rush was for an incredible 87 yards.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Cross was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 356 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2023.
Cross didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Preston Fuller and Jones. Jones' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 113 rushing yards dating back to last season.
Bethune-Bowman's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Cross, their record now sits at 6-2.
Bethune-Bowman might still be hurting after the 36-14 defeat they got from Cross in their previous matchup back in October of 2019. Can Bethune-Bowman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
