Basketball Recap: Newark Comes Up Short

Newark was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Manteno Panthers and fell 51-20. While losing is never fun, the Norsemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 642nd, while the Panthers are ranked 151st).

Newark's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Manteno, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newark will challenge Marquette at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Manteno, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Manteno Panthers challenge the Herscher Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
