Basketball Recap: Worthington Kilbourne Starts Season with Win on the Road

Worthington Kilbourne had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 64-54 victory over the Westland Cougars. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wolves as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Luke Page went supernova for Worthington Kilbourne, dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Page a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was Zach Wolford, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Westland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Breaker Heller Jr. went 8 of 14 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight assists and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Ben Barrett, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

Westland is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Worthington Kilbourne didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-48 victory against Canal Winchester on the 10th. As for Westland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 83-66 loss against Olentangy on the 7th.
