Softball Game Preview: James Island Trojans vs. May River Sharks

The James Island Trojans will face off against the May River Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Things were looking good for James Island after they put the first points on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Oceanside Collegiate Academy, falling 13-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Landsharks: they've now lost three in a row.

Chelsea Hays made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Renault, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, May River was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Lucy Beckham.

James Island's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for May River, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

James Island beat May River 3-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Does James Island have another victory up their sleeve, or will May River turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
