Football Recap: St. Vincent Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

St. Vincent had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 49-35 bruising from the Ste. Genevieve Dragons. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Luke Ferranto had an outrageously good game for Ste. Genevieve as he rushed for 188 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 100 yards. Those 188 rushing yards gave Ferranto a new career-high. Ste. Genevieve's leading receiver Wyatt Grein was Ferranto's top target yet again, picking up 100 receiving yards, while also rushing for 61 yards and one score on only seven carries.

Coming up, St. Vincent will be playing at home against Valle Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ste. Genevieve, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge University City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
