Basketball Game Preview: Scott County Central Braves vs. Oak Ridge Blue Jays

The Scott County Central Braves will be taking part in a tournament against the Oak Ridge Blue Jays at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Scott County Central will be strutting in after a win while Oak Ridge will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Saturday, Scott County Central didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Scott City, but they still walked away with a 51-45 victory.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Oak Ridge's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They lost to Chaffee at home by a 54-39 margin.

Loss or not, Oak Ridge got some senior leadership from Reagan Howe and Madyson Ruehling. Howe dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards, while Ruehling dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Howe is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last five games she's played. Kaelyn Deckerd was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, Oak Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Oak Ridge's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8. As for Scott County Central, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7.

Scott County Central ended up a good deal behind Oak Ridge when the teams last played last Wednesday, losing 63-46. Can Scott County Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
