Wellsboro is 10-0 against Canton since December of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Wellsboro Hornets will square off against the Canton Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Wellsboro is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Last Monday, Wellsboro took a blow against Troy, falling 77-41. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 500th, while the Trojans are ranked 148th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canton). They took down Williamson 68-52 on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Canton as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Wellsboro better keep an eye on Ben Fitch. He was instrumental in Canton's win, dropping a double-double on 36 points and 17 boards. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Fitch has scored at least a third of Canton's points. Talin Williams was another key player, going 8 of 14 en route to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks.

Canton's win ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11. As for Wellsboro, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Everything came up roses for Wellsboro against Canton when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 51-18 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wellsboro since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
