Baseball Recap: Durant Takes a Loss

If Durant was riding high fresh off their 15-2 takedown of McAlester last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Durant Lions fell 10-7 to the Pryor Tigers on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Holdan Robinson put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one home run and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other pitching news, Durant got a good showing from Jackson Williams, who kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Williams a new career-low in hits (zero).

Back at the plate, Ryder Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Colton Poore was another key player, going 1-for-6 with one home run and two RBI.

Even though they lost, Durant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Durant fell to 2-1. As for Pryor, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pryor beat Durant by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.
