Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Gilead Indians vs. Ridgedale Rockets

The Mt. Gilead Indians will face off against the Ridgedale Rockets at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Mt. Gilead sitting on three straight victories and Ridgedale on nine.

While Mt. Gilead's win against Cardington-Lincoln wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians had just enough and edged out the Pirates 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted since April 28th.

The team relied heavily on Gage Baker, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Young, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Ridgedale hadn't done well against Perry recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Rockets' pitchers stepped up to hand the Commodores a 4-0 shutout.

Mt. Gilead's win bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Ridgedale, their victory bumped their record up to 12-1.

Everything went Mt. Gilead's way against Ridgedale in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Mt. Gilead made off with a 13-1 win. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
