Football Game Preview: Warner Eagles vs. Chouteau-Mazie Wildcats

The Warner Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Chouteau-Mazie Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Warner and eight for Chouteau-Mazie.

Warner is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Hulbert on Thursday. The Eagles fell 26-22 to the Riders. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Riders since Thursday.

Although Warner took the loss, they still got scores from Dalton Carter, Logan Collins, and Kristopher Gonzalez.

Even if they lost, Warner's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Shooter Campbell, Case Purdom, and Tj Lovett, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, Chouteau-Mazie had to suffer through a 65-8 loss at the hands of Rejoice Christian. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Eagles are ranked 65th).

Warner's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Chouteau-Mazie, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Everything went Warner's way against Chouteau-Mazie in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Warner made off with a 43-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
