Basketball Game Preview: South Atlanta Hornets vs. Drew Charter

The South Atlanta Hornets will square off against Drew Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Drew Charter will be up against a hot South Atlanta squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. South Atlanta put the hurt on Stockbridge with a sharp 59-39 victory on Monday. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Tigers are ranked 340th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Atlanta's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bol Deng, who posted 12 points and five rebounds. Duor Duor was another key player, putting up nine points and eight boards.

South Atlanta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 21 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 91-56, which was the final score in Drew Charter's tilt against Centennial on Monday.

South Atlanta's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Drew Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
