Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers vs. Lanphier Lions

The Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers will take on the Lanphier Lions at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lanphier took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mt. Pulaski, who comes in off a win.

Mt. Pulaski barely beat Springfield Southeast the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hilltoppers put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 9-1 victory on Friday. Considering the Hilltoppers have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Lanphier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 12-0 to Glenwood.

The win made it two in a row for Mt. Pulaski and bumps their season record up to 13-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Lanphier, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.

Everything went Mt. Pulaski's way against Lanphier in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Mt. Pulaski made off with an 18-0 win. Do the Hilltoppers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
