Basketball Recap: Neshannock Takes a Loss

Neshannock and Union squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Neshannock had to settle for second. They fell to the Union Knights/Damsels 60-56. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lancers came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Knights/Damsels are ranked 429th).

Neshannock's loss dropped their record down to 21-3. As for Union, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-12 record this season.

Neshannock will head out to take on Sewickley Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neshannock knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Sewickley Academy likes a good challenge. As for Union, they will challenge Jeannette on Friday. Jeannette will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Union surely won't give up without a fight.
