The Whitney Point Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Whitney Point had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They didn't even let South Seneca onto the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Saturday. The win was just what Whitney Point needed coming off of a 69-16 loss in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Bainbridge-Guilford's game on Friday was all tied up 6-6 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Spencer-Van Etten/Candor by a score of 25-18. The victory was just what Bainbridge-Guilford needed coming off of a 56-0 loss in their prior matchup.
Bainbridge-Guilford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Connor Davy, who threw for 107 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Parker Buttice, who picked up 69 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Whitney Point's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Bainbridge-Guilford, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 4-5.
Whitney Point came up short against Bainbridge-Guilford in their previous meeting back in September of 2017, falling 20-14. Can Whitney Point avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
