Softball Game Preview: Rio Vista Eagles vs. Frost Polar Bears

For the first time this season, Rio Vista will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Friday. They will head out on the road to square off against the Frost Polar Bears at 4:30 p.m. Frost took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Rio Vista, who comes in off a win.

Rio Vista was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against South Hills on Friday. Rio Vista was the clear victors by an 18-5 margin over South Hills. Considering the Eagles have won five games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Rio Vista let Keller Rodriguez and Ayden Greenslade run wild. Rodriguez scored four runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4, while Greenslade went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. The dominant performance also gave Rodriguez a new career-high in RBI (two). Bailey Starosta was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Rio Vista kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Frost came up short against Blooming Grove on Tuesday, falling 19-4. The Polar Bears haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Frost's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Rio Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
