Baseball Recap: Westminster Christian Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Westminster Christian extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping their season record up to 13-12 in the process. They blew past the Larkin Royals 9-2. Considering the Warriors have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Liam Nash made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brian Powers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Westminster Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 8-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Dries, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Larkin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-23 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured 13 defeats in a row.

On Larkin's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aden Mora, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westminster Christian will welcome Alden-Hebron at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Larkin, they will host West Chicago at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
