Basketball Game Preview: Marcus Marauders vs. Guyer Wildcats

Marcus is 0-4 against Guyer since November of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Marcus Marauders will square off against the Guyer Wildcats at 5:45 p.m.

Marcus will head into Tuesday's match out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They came up short against Braswell, falling 56-36. While losing is never fun, the Marauders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Bengals are ranked second).

Meanwhile, Guyer entered their tilt with Hebron on Tuesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 56-28 win over the Hawks. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 23 points or more this season.

Guyer is also on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 26-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Marcus, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-13.

Marcus suffered a grim 69-43 defeat to Guyer in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Marcus avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
