Softball Recap: Neptune Comes Up Short

After flying high against Keyport on Wednesday, Neptune came back down to earth. The Scarlet Fliers came up short against the Red Bank Regional Bucs on Monday, falling 17-9. The Scarlet Fliers have struggled against the Bucs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Sian Daniels stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Cassidy, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Neptune's loss dropped their record down to 3-8-1. As for Red Bank Regional, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

While Neptune had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
