Basketball Game Preview: Pinnacle Pioneers vs. Horizon Huskies

Pinnacle is a perfect 10-0 against Horizon since December of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Pinnacle Pioneers will look to defend their home court against the Horizon Huskies at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Pinnacle's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 games.

If Pinnacle beats Horizon with 71 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Pinnacle breezed past Liberty to the tune of 71-42 on Thursday. The Pioneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 contests by 26 points or more this season.

Norah Moo continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 27 points and 12 rebounds. She has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rylee Fraley, who went 5-for-9 en route to 14 points and seven assists.

Meanwhile, Horizon was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 58-53 to Notre Dame Prep.

Pinnacle will need to focus on slowing down Peyton Schiltz, one of several Horizon players who made an impact when they last played. She went 9-for-19 on her way to 19 points. Avery Olson was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Horizon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Pinnacle is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points over those games. As for Horizon, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-9.

Everything came up roses for Pinnacle against Horizon in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 62-27 win. Does Pinnacle have another victory up their sleeve, or will Horizon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
