Liberty had lost 13 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-17 to make it 14. They lost 7-0 to the Jefferson Forest Cavaliers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Minutemen have suffered against the Cavaliers since April 21, 2022.
As for Jefferson Forest, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 16-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games.
For Jefferson Forest's part, not much got past Amelia Long, who gave up just two hits and racked up 16 Ks to keep Liberty off the board. Long has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kylie Hendricks, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Taya Hall, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with three runs.
As of now, neither Liberty nor Jefferson Forest have any future games scheduled.
