Softball Recap: Holy Names Academy Gets the Win

While Holy Names Academy's win against Nathan Hale wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Holy Names Academy had just enough and edged out Nathan Hale 15-14 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for Holy Names Academy in their matchups with Nathan Hale: they've now won eight in a row.

The team relied heavily on Lee Smedstad, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two triples. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Ella McFarlane also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Smedstad wasn't the only one making solid contact: Holy Names Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 4-7. As for Nathan Hale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.
