Volleyball Recap: Poplarville Hornets vs. Our Lady Academy Crescents
Poplarville kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Our Lady Academy Crescents, falling 3-0. If the Hornets were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Crescents when the teams met back in September of 2020, then they'll just have to keep looking.
While Poplarville was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Our Lady Academy's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-12, 25-13.
Leading Our Lady Academy to victory were Taylor Henley and Mackenzie Knoblock. Henley hit 66.7% for ten kills and 11 digs and one block, while Knoblock had six digs. Henley is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in each of the last 19 games she's played dating back to last season.
The victory was the fifth in a row for Our Lady Academy, bringing their record up to 7-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Poplarville will square off against Harrison Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Our Lady Academy, they will host Brandon at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
