Softball Recap: Seton Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Seton unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 14-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trinity Christian Gryphons on Tuesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Olivia Chau was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and 12 unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Katie Bauer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Christina Witter was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Coming up, Seton will take on Fairfax HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Trinity Christian, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Foxcroft at 4:00 p.m. on April 11.
