Basketball Game Preview: Genoa-Hugo/Karval Pirates vs. Eads Eagles

Genoa-Hugo/Karval hasn't had much luck against Eads recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Genoa-Hugo/Karval Pirates just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Eads Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Genoa-Hugo/Karval comes in on four and Eads on ten.

On Wednesday, Genoa-Hugo/Karval was fully in charge, breezing past Miami-Yoder 35-8.

Meanwhile, Eads beat Cheyenne Wells 36-26 on Friday.

Eads found their leader in sophomore Anna Wollert, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. Wollert is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alessandra Paez, who posted six points.

Eads smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 17 consecutive games.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-10. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 16.7 points over those games. As for Eads, their record now sits at 15-3.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval suffered a grim 46-20 defeat to Eads in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Genoa-Hugo/Karval avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
