Baseball Recap: Montwood Rams vs. Franklin Cougars
Montwood took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Franklin, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Montwood Rams narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Franklin Cougars 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Cougars last Saturday, they had to take a 11-2 loss.
Diego Erives made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Montwood's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is undefeated (and 4-8-2 when he doesn't). Erives was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
