Basketball Game Preview: Travelers Rest Devildogs vs. Daniel Lions

The Travelers Rest Devildogs will head out to square off against the Daniel Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 80-38, which was the final score in Travelers Rest's tilt against Greer on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Devildogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 26th).

Meanwhile, Daniel was able to grind out a solid victory over Berea on Wednesday, taking the game 75-63.

Travelers Rest better keep an eye on Will Swann. He was instrumental in Daniel's win, going 10 of 17 en route to 25 points. The dominant performance gave Swann a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Conley, who posted 12 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks.

Daniel's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Travelers Rest, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Travelers Rest was able to grind out a solid victory over Daniel when the teams last played back in December of 2014, winning 75-63. The rematch might be a little tougher for Travelers Rest since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
