The Broadalbin-Perth Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Glens Falls Black Bears at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Monday, Broadalbin-Perth made easy work of Coxsackie-Athens and carried off a 9-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.
Riley Fenton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Blake Shields was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Glens Falls waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Scots as they made off with a 15-5 win.
Aidan Perry looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Chace Davidson was a standout: he fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Brayden Bennett, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Glens Falls was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Glens Falls' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Broadalbin-Perth, their record is now 11-9.
Broadalbin-Perth was able to grind out a solid victory over Glens Falls in their previous matchup on May 2nd, winning 8-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
