Recap: Gladewater Bears vs. White Oak Roughnecks
The Gladewater Bears fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They really took it to White Oak for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-7 win at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-7.
Leading Gladewater to victory were Nate Smith and Carsin Cooper. Smith rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, while Cooper rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Cooper was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards.
Another reason for the win was Gladewater's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. White Oak's QB won't forget Jobey Shico anytime soon given Shico sacked him three times.
Gladewater has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 3-7 record this season. As for White Oak, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Gladewater will be playing at home against Mount Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mount Vernon's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matchups. White Oak does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
