Volleyball Recap: Taylor Denike Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Yonkers Montessori Academy

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Dobbs Ferry had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Everything went their way against Yonkers Montessori Academy as they made off with a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for Dobbs Ferry in their matchups with Yonkers Montessori Academy: they've now won seven in a row.

Dobbs Ferry was especially dominant in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-15, 25-19.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dobbs Ferry to victory, but perhaps none more so than Taylor Denike, who had 12 kills, eight aces, and four digs. That's the most aces Denike has posted over her last five matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Natasha Mansfield, who had 13 kills, five digs, two aces, and one block.

They weren't the only good servers: Dobbs Ferry was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in ten consecutive matches.

Dobbs Ferry's win bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Yonkers Montessori Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Dobbs Ferry is taking a road trip to challenge Valhalla at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Yonkers Montessori Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
