Beechcroft falls despite strong effort from Khalil Samuel

Recap: Beechcroft Cougars vs. Dunbar Wolverines

The Beechcroft Cougars pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dunbar. While losing is never fun, Beechcroft can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while Dunbar is ranked 90th).

Despite the loss, Beechcroft still got an impressive performance from Khalil Samuel, who scored 22 points along with five assists. Samuel is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Santonio Dortch was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Dunbar's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lamontre Tripp, who scored 15 points. Tripp also scored 15 points for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmy Hill iv, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Beechcroft now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Dunbar, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beechcroft will take on Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dunbar won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Archbishop Alter at 6:30 p.m. on December 10th.
