While Briggs's win against Walnut Ridge wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bruins sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Scots on Wednesday. The Bruins have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Scots, too.

The team relied heavily on Troy Downs, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Griffith, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Briggs now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Walnut Ridge, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Briggs will take on rival South at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Walnut Ridge is set to square off against their familiar foe Independence at 5:30 p.m. on the 11th.
