Football Recap: Edison Does not Make It Easy on Sanger's Passing Game

Edison extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 1-7. They fell 36-27 to the Sanger Apaches. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 355th, while the Apaches are ranked 161st).

Even if they lost, Edison's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Trenell Emerson Jr refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

As for Sanger, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.4 points over those games.

Kendale McGrew produced another solid performance rushing for 157 yards and a pair of scores. He has become a key player for Sanger: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

Looking ahead, Edison will take on Justin Garza at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sanger, they will square off against Madera at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Apaches will need to watch out since the Coyotes have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
