Softball Recap: Vicksburg Victorious

Vicksburg barely beat Yazoo City the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gators never let the Indians get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Gators in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won three in a row.

Kaycie Coleman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jakayla Hampton, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Shandrea Lockridge was another key player, earning one RBI, two runs, and four stolen bases.

Vicksburg's win bumped their record up to 5-22. As for Yazoo City, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-12 record.

Vicksburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Yazoo City has already played their next contest (against Clarksdale), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
