No. 14 De Smet Jesuit wins season opener against St. Louis rival Christian Brothers.

The biggest high school football game of the year turned out to be one-sided. No. 1 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) cruised to a dominant 41-14 win over No. 6 Duncanville (Texas) at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Michigan-bound quarterback J.J. McCarthy threw for three touchdowns as the Ascenders improved to 5-0.

Five other Top 50 teams were in action on Saturday as No. 4 St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia), No. 14 De Smet Jesuit (St. Louis), No. 18 St. Peter's Prep (Jersey City, N.J.), No. 24 Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.) and No. 40 St. Joseph Regional (Montvale, N.J.) all won.

Friday night in Georgia, No. 5 Grayson (Loganville) prevailed in double overtime 20-13 over Mill Creek (Hoschton). Neither team scored a touchdown in regulation. Grayson connected on a field goal in the final minute of the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime. Grayson scored a touchdown in the second extra period and got a stop on defense to pull out a dramatic win.

Jacurri Brown and No. 9 Lowndes (Valdosta) beat Valdosta 33-21 on ESPN2 in the Winnersville Classic. Brown finished the night with nearly 300 yards of total offense and four touchdowns as the Vikings improved to 5-0.

No. 19 Pickerington Central (Pickerington) and No. 29 St. Edward (Lakewood) both cruised to shutout victories in Ohio to open the Division 1 playoffs.

There were eight Top 50 teams in action Thursday. Rockwall (Texas) pulled off the only upset, beating Quinn Ewers and No. 11 Southlake Carroll (Texas) 44-42. Braedyn Locke threw for over 350 yards and accounted for four touchdowns in the win.
