Soccer Game Preview: Hillside vs. Oxford Prep

The Hillside Hornets will face off against the Oxford Prep Griffins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hillside has given up an average of 3.1 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monday just wasn't the day for Hillside's offense. They came up short against Chapel Hill on Monday, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, Hillside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 330th, while Chapel Hill are ranked 147th).

Meanwhile, Oxford Prep kept a clean sheet against Henderson Collegiate on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Pride. The win made it back-to-back victories for Oxford Prep.

They hit Henderson Collegiate with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Julieta Villa Gallardo (2), Emily Wilkinson (2), Autumn Abbott, and Sage Beck.

Hillside dropped their record down to 9-9-1 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Oxford Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8-3.

Hillside came out on top in a nail-biter against Oxford Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Griffins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
